Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Binghamton University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Regional Assistant Director to support Enrollment Management for the six schools at Binghamton University through identifying, selecting, and enrolling students from the New Jersey geographic region. The Undergraduate Admissions Office seeks a self-motivated, dynamic individual with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to represent the University among prospective students, their families, and colleagues. The regional assistant director will operate remotely covering the recruitment territory of New Jersey and assisting in other recruitment locations as needed.  The position will also require travel to the Binghamton campus several times throughout the year.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Manage data and recruitment activities with the New Jersey geographic market including, but not limited to; high school visits, college fairs, hosting recruitment events, communication/outreach activities, and innovative presentation methods

Build a strong working knowledge of Binghamton University, its programs, policies, staffing, goals and history
Establish and maintain strong relationships and rapport with area high schools, counselors, community colleges, community-based organizations, students, parents, alumni and professional organizations in order to develop and foster results to meet Binghamton University’s enrollment goals
Build, implement and maintain an effective communication and recruitment plan in conjunction with office-wide strategy for New Jersey and other assigned responsibilities.
Coordinate targeted area receptions and information sessions for recruitment and yield purposes with prospective students, applicants, parents, counselors and alumni in order to build awareness and increase enrollments from the specified area; these may involve working with representatives from other colleges or universities.
Prepare reports and innovative proposals to help understand the New Jersey territory and further the goals of the region
Participate in the development of operating goals and objectives for the department; recommend, implement, and administer methods and procedures to enhance operations
Supervise other regional recruiters
Review applications through a holistic reading process and make recommendations, act as an active member of application reading committees
Build and maintain territory and school specific queries using a CRM
Manage a special program or serve as a liaison between undergraduate admissions and another campus constituent


Bachelor’s Degree
2-5 years of previous admissions, enrollment, and/or student recruitment with specific and demonstrable knowledge of the geographic territory of New Jersey
Demonstrated public speaking ability, analytical thinking, and creative problem solving
Ability to maintain a flexible working schedule including frequent nights and weekends
Experience working with and serving diverse populations
Valid/clean driver’s license to rent and operate a motor vehicle
Knowledge of local, regional and national college counseling ethics, standards, trends, strategies and tactics;
Ability to travel to Binghamton University for training, updates, and events no fewer than four times per year (expenses will be paid).
Able to walk, stand for long periods, lift and carry boxes weighing 25 pounds or more.
Must be computer literate and have access to internet.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Residency in the most populated/central area of recruitment territory and familiarity within territory preferred
Master’s Degree
Experience marketing and leveraging technology
Experience with a higher education admission CRM such as Slate and/or a comprehensive student system such as Banner
Bilingual (Spanish or Mandarin)
Demonstrated understanding and appreciation for date based enrollment management techniques and can exercise sound and creative budget management
Experience leading and managing a staff
