The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and enrolling a large, highly-qualified, and diverse new student class each year. The office processes over 35,000 applications for freshman, transfer, and international admissions. It is our responsibility to meet the freshman and transfer enrollment targets on behalf of the University.

Essential Job Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Admissions office in identifying, recruiting and enrolling a new academically strong and diverse student class each academic year. The Admissions Counselor will provide customer service, support, and recruitment to prospective students, school counselors, and families. They will process applications and supporting materials, in addition to articulating admissions policies and procedures to students, parents and counselors.

Additionally, this person will review academic credentials of freshman applicants to make appropriate decisions regarding admissibility to the University. They will also process applications, transfer credits, and maintain excellent customer service for prospective students, applicants, and their associated contacts with NC State.

Other Work/Responsibilities
Represent NC State University to prospective students, parents, and counselors by participating in such events as high school visits, college fairs, receptions, etc. There is extensive contact with the public by phone, e-mail, and in person. The position counsels prospective students, providing information about the University and its programs of study and admission standards, policies, and procedures. Recruitment activities involve extensive travel, both in state and out of state, and considerable public speaking. Weekend work will be occasionally required.

Assist with office operations and administrative duties daily including but not limited to answering phone calls, greeting campus visitors, responding to email inquires, application processing, transfer credit processing, and assisting with other special projects.

Conduct information sessions each week on campus for prospective students and their parents.

Review academic credentials of freshmen applicants to make appropriate admissions decisions, based on a holistic review of the application and supporting documents, including specific degree requirements and student characteristics which would indicate success in these areas of study.
