Position Summary
Trinity College in Hartford Connecticut, one of America’s premier liberal arts colleges, seeks a dynamic, creative, and innovative admissions professional to serve as senior associate director of international admissions. Reporting to the dean of admissions and financial aid within the Division of Student Success and Enrollment Management, this individual will be responsible for managing the recruitment, evaluation, and enrollment of international students. In addition, this person will work collaboratively with offices across the campus to strategize ways to support the success of international students at Trinity College.

The senior associate director will serve as a key advisor in the Office of Admissions and across campus regarding international student enrollment and success. The incumbent will travel for the purposes of recruitment, speaking engagements, and conferences. In addition, the senior associate director will serve as an advisor to a team of admissions counselors on the recruitment and evaluation of international students.

This is an exciting time to join Trinity College in this role. We’ve seen international student enrollment grow by nearly 50% over the last five years. As the institution continues to implement its strategic plan—Summit—and prepares for its upcoming bicentennial celebration, the incumbent will have an opportunity to impact diversity initiatives at the college, while bringing forth the vision of a truly urban and global 21st century liberal arts college.

Located in Connecticut’s capital, Hartford, Trinity College is a highly selective, independent, nonsectarian liberal arts institution. With over 2100 full time undergraduate students and 91 graduate students, the College maintains a rigorous academic profile complemented by a vibrant and diverse co-curricular program. The College enjoys the benefit of being situated in an urban center and has strong academic, social and philanthropic connections to our home city of Hartford. Our student body is diverse, representing 41 states and 70 countries with 21% students of color and 50% women. Just over 90% of students live in campus residences.

Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as leader of international recruitment and manage teams of admissions professionals, operations staff, and student workers.
Manage a team to execute the review process for international applicants.
Collaborate with admissions colleagues to create and co-facilitate staff training sessions related to international trends.
Develop and coordinate creative events in-person and virtual to bolster international recruitment and yield activities throughout the admissions cycle.
Arrange and conduct individual interviews with students and organize regional group information sessions for students and families.
Cultivate strong professional relationships with secondary school counselors, community- based organizations, and other educational constituencies abroad.

Extensive travel and weekend and evening hours will be required during certain time periods in the academic year.
Trinity seeks a highly collaborative individual who can adapt to the dynamic nature of enrollment work. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of admissions experience, and experience in international recruitment, evaluation, and enrollment is required. Strong writing and public speaking skills are also required, and the ability to work independently is key. The senior associate director must have a passion for working with and serving as an advocate for students. The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a college-issued credit card. A bachelor’s degree is required, and a graduate degree is preferred.
