Recruiting Best Practices: First Impressions through Matriculation

Join Owen Roff and Tony Zogheib for "Recruiting Best Practices: First Impressions through Matriculation". They both came from sales backgrounds before starting our admissions careers and have found a lot of success by applying their sales-related skills to their interactions with prospective students and families, and to the admissions cycle as a whole.

There are so many parallels between the admissions cycle and running sales processes, and they have leaned heavily into the concept of admissions as "selling" the school, which has helped us to bring in record-breaking classes. They'll break down the tools they use when "selling", whether it's selling the school, specific majors, or even the idea of going to college at all. For example, they use a variety of interpersonal communication tactics that they don't see many other counselors doing, and utilize highly personalized outreach strategies.

They'll also share the ways they organize their cycle along the lines of a sales process, from the initial inquiry or outreach, through acceptance, and all the way through melt prevention and matriculation.
