Message from the NJACAC President

Happy final week of August, members!

It’s hard to believe that we’re already approaching the end of the summer, yet here we are. There’s so much going on this time of year, and I know that things can get lost in the shuffle, so I wanted to send you a few reminders and updates about what’s going on right now within NJACAC.

First thing’s first: if you haven’t already renewed your membership for the 2026-2027 year, make sure to do that ASAP! The membership application is now open for the 2026-2027 year which runs from September 1st, 2026 through August 31st, 2027. Renew your membership now to access members-only events, discounted event registrations, and more!

Speaking of membership, we want to make sure that you’re getting the most out of your NJACAC membership and that we understand your wants and needs. To that end, I want to hear from you! Keep your eyes open for an email from me in the next week or two with a membership engagement survey. I want your honest thoughts, feedback, and ideas for how to make NJACAC the best that it can be - sharing with me the good, the bad, and the creative.

Looking for even more incentive to renew your membership today? Fall 2026 NJACAC College Fair Registration is now open, and we’ve added discounted registration rates for NJACAC college members, plus the ability for corporate/vendor members to register to exhibit at our fairs for the first time ever. This year, we’re offering a fair on Sunday, 9/20 at The County College of Morris as well as Wednesday, 10/14 at JP Stevens High School. For more information, see here.

For those of you attending the NACAC Conference in Minneapolis in just six short weeks, I hope you’ll join us for our NJACAC Affiliate Membership Meeting & Reception on Thursday, 10/8 from 6:15 - 7:30 PM Central. We’ll have drinks, refreshments, music, and the opportunity to connect with our friends and colleagues. Note that this reception is limited to NJACAC members only. Don’t worry - you’ll be able to get your membership at the door if you arrive without one. (I may be biased as I work for the mainstage host University of Minnesota Twin Cities, but I have a feeling this is going to be the best NACAC yet!)

Finally, for those of us in the tristate area, this stormy weather reminds me of this year’s conference theme: Dancing in the Dark. As we turn the page and begin a new academic year, we continue to face challenges that we might not have ever encountered before, but we do so embracing the opportunity to try - and to conquer - new things. Most importantly, we lean on each other, learn from one another, and move forward together. I hope you’ll take this opportunity to once again become a member of this special organization in NJACAC and see how our people move forward together, creating new light for ourselves and for one another.
