Message from the NJACAC President

Hi Members,

I hope that your summer’s off to a great start and that you enjoyed the long weekend. Time seems to fly faster and faster, and it’s hard to believe that we’re already turning over to a new admissions cycle, but here we are! I wanted to reach out with a few updates, notices, and save-the-dates for NJACAC.

First, I want to thank everyone once again who attended this year’s annual conference in May at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City! We had an absolute blast coming together to learn, grow, commiserate, and move forward. I’m still having conversations with folks about what they took away from our keynote speaker, Teege Mettille, as well as sessions such as Let’s Make A Deal: Navigating Cost, Value, and Negotiation Conversations in College Admission. Second, I want to note that the current membership year runs through August 31st, 2026. Membership renewal will go live the first week of August for the new membership year which runs from September 1st, 2026 through August 31st, 2027. Don’t forget to renew your membership to take advantage of members-only programming, pricing, news, and more! Speaking of programming…

Mark your calendars for this year’s Basics of College Counseling Workshop taking place on Monday, 8/10 at Rider University! Newer professionals and those new to their “side of the desk” can take advantage of this one-day workshop covering all of the essentials of the profession and connect with industry veterans to help find their footing in our field. That same week, we’re hosting a 1-day Camp College event at Montclair State University. If you have students who you feel would benefit from an immersive, info-packed college admissions bootcamp covering everything from campus visits to financial aid to college essays, we’d love to have them join us on Tuesday, 8/11! We’ve got a pair of Professional Development events coming up towards the end of August: first, we’ll be hosting a virtual Mentorship Kickoff Meeting on 8/20 from 4:30-5:30, and then we’ll have a Summer Wisdom Exchange on 8/25 from 1-2. These are a great way to get in gear for the new academic year and admissions cycle, and we hope you’ll join us!

Finally, for those attending this year’s NACAC Conference in Minneapolis, I hope you’ll join us for our NJACAC affiliate meeting and reception on Thursday, 10/8 from 6:15-7:30 PM Central! Mark your calendars now - more information to come.
